Emily Barker is a leading Sydney-based family law specialist. Since her admission in 2014, she has advised clients across the full spectrum of family law, including complex property and financial matters, parenting disputes involving serious allegations of family violence and sexual abuse, and de facto matters.

Emily understands that for many clients this may be their first interaction with the legal system. She brings calm, empathy, and clear guidance to every brief, with a focus on helping people feel confident in the process, reducing unnecessary delay, and providing transparent, upfront pricing.

Before practising law, Emily spent a decade in television as a sports reporter with Network 10 and the Nine Network, and as a reporter on A Current Affair. She also served as an advisor to Professor Gillian Triggs, former President of the Australian Human Rights Commission. This breadth of experience combined with strong technical expertise, helps her cut to the heart of complex, personal issues and achieve practical outcomes for clients.

Emily holds a Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Laws from The University of Queensland. She is a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, the Women Lawyers Association of NSW, and the Law Society of NSW.
